ABCA (Activity-Based Continuous Assessment)
ABCA (Activity-Based Continuous Assessment) in the School of Law is designed to
evaluate students through practical, research-oriented, analytical, and
participatory activities rather than relying solely on conventional examinations.
This approach emphasizes continuous learning, legal reasoning, advocacy skills,
ethical understanding, and practical exposure to the legal system.
- Application-Based Activity:
Practical legal exercises requiring students to apply statutory provisions,
judicial precedents, and legal principles to real or hypothetical situations,
thereby enhancing legal reasoning, drafting, and problem-solving abilities.
- Regularity in Theory:
Consistent attendance, classroom participation, case discussions, and
engagement in lectures to ensure conceptual clarity, legal awareness, and
continuous academic involvement in doctrinal subjects.
- Case Analysis and Case Comment Writing:
Students critically analyse landmark judgments and contemporary legal
disputes, preparing structured case comments to develop analytical thinking,
interpretation skills, and understanding of judicial reasoning.
- Poster Presentation:
Visual and thematic presentations on constitutional values, legal awareness,
human rights, cyber laws, environmental concerns, or contemporary legal issues
to strengthen communication and legal literacy skills.
- Open Book Test:
Assessments permitting the use of Bare Acts, case materials, and notes,
focusing on interpretation, application of law, and analytical abilities
instead of rote memorization.
- Quiz:
Short objective or analytical assessments based on statutes, legal maxims,
landmark judgments, and current legal developments to reinforce conceptual
understanding and legal aptitude.
- Seminar / Group Discussion:
Interactive academic sessions where students present legal topics, debate
contemporary issues, and participate in discussions to enhance advocacy,
research, and public speaking skills.
- Court Visit / Institutional Visit:
Educational visits to courts, tribunals, prisons, police stations, Lok
Adalats, legislative institutions, or legal aid centres to provide practical
exposure to the functioning of the justice delivery system.
- Research Paper / Review Paper:
Educational visits to courts, tribunals, prisons, police stations, Lok

- 1Moot Court / Mock Trial / Project:
Simulation-based exercises where students argue cases, prepare memorials,
conduct trials, or undertake legal projects to develop advocacy, drafting,
teamwork, and professional ethics.
- 1Library Assignment / Legislative Research:
Research-oriented assignments requiring the use of law reports, journals, Bare
Acts, commentaries, online legal databases, and legislative materials to
strengthen independent legal research and interpretation skills.
Summer Training & Internship Opportunities
The School of Law encourages students to actively participate in summer training
