School of Management, ITM University, Gwalior, in collaboration with Pacific States University, is organising a Five-Day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Systematic Literature Review for Innovation-Driven Research and High-Impact Publications.” The title of this FDP has been conceptualised to capture both the methodological depth and the research-impact potential that systematic literature reviews (SLRs) offer to scholars in the current academic landscape. While numerous research development programs address data analysis, writing formats, or publication strategies independently, this FDP brings all essential research-building components together through the lens of systematic literature review methodologies, thereby strengthening scholars’ ability to progress toward quality publications.

Program Overview

Systematic literature reviews (SLRs) have become the cornerstone of impactful academic research, enabling scholars to advance knowledge, synthesize research findings, establish theoretical advances, and shape future research agendas. Recognizing the growing importance of structured review methodologies in leading journals, the School of Management, ITM University, Gwalior, is pleased to present a Five-Day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Systematic Literature Review for Innovation-Driven Research and High-Impact Publications.” The FDP will be conducted in hybrid mode and facilitated by Dr. Justin Paul, Professor, University of Puerto Rico, San Juan, USA, and Research Fellow, Corvinus University of Budapest.

This immersive research-oriented FDP is designed to empower faculty members, Ph.D. scholars, and early-career researchers with the frameworks, tools, and best practices needed to conduct rigorous literature reviews and translate them into high-impact academic publications. The program uniquely integrates methodological rigor with hands-on academic writing support, enabling participants to progress toward publishable review manuscripts and scholarly contributions aligned with contemporary journal standards.

Relevance of the FDP: Advancing Systematic Literature Reviews for Innovation and High-Impact Scholarship

The Five-Day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on Systematic Literature Review for Innovation-Driven Research and High-Impact Publications has been conceptualised to address a fundamental shift in research expectations worldwide. In contemporary academic environments, literature reviews are no longer perceived as descriptive summaries but as strategic scholarly instruments that critically inform the direction, depth, and quality of research. High-impact journals, doctoral committees, and global research bodies increasingly value literature reviews that present a methodologically rigorous, theoretically grounded, and innovation-aligned synthesis of existing scholarship.

With this evolving academic landscape, the capacity to design systematic literature reviews has become essential for scholars seeking visibility, relevance, and contribution in their fields. Systematic literature reviews perform multiple strategic roles: they map conceptual evolution, reveal methodological advancements, highlight streams of inquiry, and identify meaningful research gaps that warrant future investigation. More importantly, they strengthen research design and publication potential by offering clarity of purpose, justification of direction, and a structured rationale for scholarly contribution.

This FDP is therefore anchored in the need to empower faculty members and research scholars to navigate these expectations through globally recognised review methodologies and frameworks, including ADO, TCCM, and SPAR-4-SLR. Participants will gain structured exposure to the design and development of review manuscripts aligned with publication standards, enabling them to undertake research that is both innovative in orientation and positioned for high-impact journals. The collective focus of this program is not merely to instruct scholars in how to write literature reviews, but to equip them to translate systematic review processes into publishable academic outcomes, thereby strengthening research ecosystems within and beyond their institutions.

Why Systematic Literature Reviews Matter Today

In today’s research landscape, literature reviews are far beyond a summary of existing work—they are strategic scholarly instruments. A well-constructed SLR offers:

  • A conceptual map of what has been studied, how, and why
  • Critical insights into theoretical, empirical, and contextual development
  • A deeper understanding of methodological advancements
  • Identification of research gaps that meaningfully guide future scholarship
  • A systematic foundation for doctoral research, grant proposals, and journal submissions

Leading academic bodies and journals now expect theoretical contribution, methodological clarity, and structured review protocols, making SLRs a vital research skill for publication success.
