The foundation stone of the School of Law, ITM University Gwalior was laid with a vision to establish a premier institution to impart world-class legal education and produce skilled legal practitioners, jurists, academicians, and responsible citizenry. Founded with a clear vision to create not just lawyers, but future leaders, thinkers, and responsible citizens, the School of Law is recognized by the UGC and approved by the Bar Council of India. School of Law, ITM University aspires to be recognized as a premier center of excellence in law. The school seeks to emphasize the integration of entrepreneurial initiatives and creative programs in the curricular activity, beyond the traditional academic orientation to develop within each of its students a livelier and more genuine outlook toward their life and career.

Legal education plays a crucial role in nation-building by facilitating the peaceful settlement of disputes through established legal procedures. The School of Law is committed to providing practical, hands-on legal education, emphasizing research, innovative teaching methods, and values-based learning. The School boasts a rich library having treatises by renowned authorities, up-to-date case reports, and access to the latest online legal search engines, offering a vast learning experience. We organize regular court visits, Legal Aid cum Literacy Camps, Moot Court Activities, Mock Trials, Court Room Exercises, and guest lectures by dignitaries. These activities aim to familiarize students with the justice delivery process, helping them perceive legal education as justice education. Additionally, we prioritize technological proficiency in justice deliver.

About the Legal Aid Clinic

The Legal Aid Clinic at the School of Law, ITM University, Gwalior, is established with the objective of promoting access to justice and providing free legal assistance to the underprivileged sections of society. The Clinic operates in alignment with the constitutional mandate of ensuring justice—social, economic, and political—and aims to inculcate a sense of social responsibility among law students.

The Clinic functions under the guidance of faculty members and legal experts, enabling students to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical legal application.

Objectives
  • To provide free legal aid and assistance to marginalized communities
  • To promote legal awareness and literacy among the public
  • To develop practical legal skills among law students
  • To encourage pro bono culture and ethical legal practice
  • To support alternative dispute resolution mechanisms
Key Activities

1. Legal Awareness Programmes

  • Conducting seminars, workshops, and awareness drives on legal rights
  • Educating citizens on topics such as women’s rights, consumer protection, and cyber laws

2. Institutional Visits

  • Lok Adalat Visits – Exposure to alternative dispute resolution mechanisms
  • Prison Visits – Understanding prison administration and inmate rights
  • Court Visits – Observing judicial proceedings

3. Legal Aid & Counselling

  • Providing basic legal advice under faculty supervision
  • Assisting in drafting applications and legal documents

4. Collaboration & Outreach

  • Working with Legal Services Authorities
  • Participation in National Lok Adalats
  • Community engagement programs in rural and urban areas
Student Involvement
  • Participate in real-life legal aid activities
  • Develop advocacy, drafting, and client counselling skills

Participation is coordinated through the Legal Aid Club of the School of Law.
