The Bachelor of Journalism & Mass Communication BA(JMC) is a 4-year undergraduate program designed in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. It offers a comprehensive curriculum that blends theoretical understanding with hands-on training in journalism, media production, public relations, advertising, digital communication, and academic research.

Graduates of the BA (JMC )Hons. / BA(JMC) Hons. with Research (4-year program) are eligible for 1-year Master’s programs in India and several other countries, in line with the NEP 2020 provisions. This gives students a competitive edge, whether pursuing higher education or entering professional careers in journalism, public relations, advertising, content creation, or corporate communication

Comprehensive Curriculum:

The BJMC program at ITM University offers a broad-based curriculum that spans print journalism, television and radio production, advertising, public relations, digital media, media laws, communication theories, and research methods. Students gain both theoretical insights and practical skills essential for today’s dynamic media landscape.

Flexible Duration:

In accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, students can complete the program in three years or opt for a four-year BJMC (Hons.) with Research track. The extended program includes a capstone research project, opening pathways to a 1-year Master’s degree in India and abroad.

Holistic Learning:

The BJMC program combines classroom learning with experiential exposure. Students engage in real-time reporting, newsroom simulations, documentary production, campaigns, field visits, and expert workshops to ensure a well-rounded and industry-relevant education.

Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs)
  • PSO1. Creative Conceptualization and Management: Conceptualize projects related to different fields of TV, Radio, Print or Digital media and films, collect required information through different methods and design, execute and manage the media.
  • PSO2. Data Visualization and Storytelling: Apply knowledge of different fields Journalism and Mass Communication to conduct research, analyze, visualize and interpret data, and derive new findings in the field to tell stories on diverse issues.
  • PSO3. Creative Expression and Writing: Create effective and creative communication content in the form of articles, features, reports and other creative pieces for Trans media platforms including print, digital and audio-visual medium by using reporting, editing and designing skills.

  • PEO 1 (Technical and creative adeptness): The students will be able to become technically adept to specific fields of media, mass communication and allied fields. Their technical and creative skills will enable them to perform their work with a commitment to quality and timeliness with continuous improvement.
  • PEO 2(Interpersonal Skills): The journalism and mass communication students will demonstrate effective interpersonal skills in teams and at workplace.
  • PEO 3(Awareness of Social impact): Graduates will be made aware of social issues and their impact on society. They will become efficient to apply remedial measures when required.
  • PEO4 (Professionalism): Understanding professionalism, ethics, quality performance, sustainability and allowing them to be professional leaders and contributors to society through their proactive and constructive work.
